What we do

Nuleaf’s work is guided by our Service Plan. This is developed annually with our members and with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) and Radioactive Waste Management (RWM). At the end of each year, we prepare a report setting out our performance against Outputs and Outcomes.

Nuleaf is formally established as a Special Interest Group of the Local Government Association. Our Constitution sets out our remit and ways of working. It also contains our aims and objectives.

On behalf of our members, Nuleaf works to promote the best economic, social and environmental outcomes for nuclear communities.

We engage with Government and Regulators and with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) to shape strategy, policy and practice in decommissioning and waste management. We work closely with Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) and Sellafield Ltd on decommissioning; and with Nuclear Waste Services (NWS) on waste management and the siting process for a Geological Disposal Facility (GDF). We are engaged in a range of networks and projects at the international level.
